The Los Angeles Dodgers placed outfielder Jason Heyward on the 10-day injured list on Wednesday due to tightness in his lower back. The team said this move was effective from Saturday onwards.
Heyward, who is 34 years old, missed the Dodgers’ last three games because of this injury. Although scans didn’t show any serious issues, Heyward was still feeling stiffness, as explained by manager Dave Roberts.
Heyward has a batting average of .214 (3 for 14) with two RBIs in the Dodgers’ first four games this season. Last season, in his first year with the Dodgers, he had a successful comeback, batting .269 with 15 home runs, 40 RBIs, and a .813 OPS in 124 games.
In place of Heyward, outfielder Taylor Trammell was added to the active roster. Trammell, who is 26 years old, was claimed off waivers from the Seattle Mariners. Last season, he recorded a batting average of .130 with three home runs and 11 RBIs in 22 games for the Mariners.
