The Los Angeles Lakers are strong contenders to sign a skilled scoring guard who was recently waived by the Boston Celtics on Saturday.

The Lakers need a bench scorer to help keep their offense going when LeBron James and Anthony Davis are resting.

A player like former Laker Lonnie Walker IV would be a great addition—Walker played in 56 games for Los Angeles during the 2022-23 season, starting 32 of them and averaging 11.7 points per game off the bench.

Wait a moment, Walker is now available after being cut by the Celtics, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.

“The Boston Celtics are waiving guard Lonnie Walker IV, sources tell ESPN,” Charania said. “Walker averaged 7.3 points in 16.4 minutes per game in Celtics preseason.”

Walker would fit perfectly back with the Lakers after spending the 2023-24 season scoring for the Brooklyn Nets.

Walker was picked with the No. 18 overall selection in the 2018 NBA draft by the San Antonio Spurs.
