Leipzig has extended coach Marco Rose’s contract by one year, showing they want continuity after also renewing star forward Benjamin Sesko’s deal.
Rose has been with Leipzig for two years and his contract was set to end after next season.
Last Bundesliga season, Leipzig finished fourth, one spot down from Rose’s first year.
He was praised for developing young players like Sesko and for Leipzig’s narrow 2-1 loss to Real Madrid in the Champions League, who went on to win the tournament. Rose also led Leipzig to victory in the German Cup in 2023.
Before Leipzig, Rose coached Borussia Dortmund and Borussia Moenchengladbach in Germany, and he won the Austrian league twice with Salzburg.
Recently, Leipzig extended Sesko’s contract until 2029.
