Baltimore Ravens tight end Mark Andrews made a significant impact during Sunday’s game against the Washington Commanders, despite experiencing one of the toughest starts in his seven-year career. Andrews caught a 13-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Lamar Jackson late in the second quarter, which pushed the Ravens ahead 17-10. The touchdown not only helped the team take the lead but also gave Andrews a share of the Ravens’ record books.

With this catch, Andrews tied the franchise record for career touchdown receptions, matching Todd Heap with 41. However, the season hadn’t been easy for Andrews, who had previously been Jackson’s top target. Prior to the game, he had only managed 10 receptions for 120 yards over five games, making this his least productive start to any season.

The game itself had its ups and downs for Andrews. Earlier, a Jackson pass slipped through Andrews’ hands, resulting in an interception, further reflecting the struggles he has faced this season. But despite that setback, he responded by scoring his first touchdown in nearly a year, showing his ability to overcome adversity on the field.

This touchdown was Andrews’ first since October 29 of last season, a span of almost 12 months. The score not only boosted his confidence but also brought an important milestone in his career, signaling a potential turning point in what has been a challenging 2023 campaign for the star tight end.
