Mark Murphy, the President of the Packers, mentioned that their team is prepared and eager to travel to Brazil for Week One if the NFL schedules them for the game.
The NFL has already confirmed that the second game of the 2024 regular season will take place in Brazil on Friday, September 6. The Eagles are set to be the home team for this game, streamed on Peacock. Either the Browns or the Packers will likely be the visiting team, and Murphy is enthusiastic about expanding the Cheesehead fan base in São Paulo.
“We’re one of the top teams in terms of popularity in Brazil,” Murphy stated, according to Rob Demovsky of ESPN.
Murphy anticipates an official announcement from the NFL in the coming days.
“Additionally, this is significant for the league,” Murphy added. “If chosen, we’re more than willing to participate.”
The NFL has been focused on increasing its fan base internationally for some time, and Brazil is the latest market in its sights. Murphy believes that establishing a presence in Brazil would benefit both the NFL and the Packers.
