Starling Marte hit a crucial three-run homer in the sixth inning, and Pete Alonso’s exceptional defensive play helped secure the New York Mets’ 6-4 victory over the struggling Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday, extending their winning streak to six games.

Despite starting the season with five consecutive losses, the Mets have turned things around, winning 12 of their last 15 games.

Marte emphasized the team’s energy and camaraderie, highlighting their support for each other on the field. Meanwhile, the Dodgers continued to struggle offensively, losing seven of their last nine games.

Their difficulties were evident as they went 2 for 12 with runners in scoring position and left 13 runners on base.

This marks the first time since June that the Dodgers have lost three consecutive series, including their first three-series losing streak at home since August 2018.

Despite issuing 10 walks, the Mets managed to secure the win, their most walks in a winning game since August 15. Reed Garrett secured his first Major League save with an impressive performance, striking out the side to seal the victory.

Michael Tonkin, who recently joined the Mets from the Minnesota Twins, earned the win. The Dodgers briefly tied the game 2-2 in the fifth inning on Max Muncy’s sacrifice fly.
