J.D. Martinez hit a home run in the eighth inning, putting his team ahead. Francisco Lindor contributed with four hits, including a crucial RBI after Pete Alonso’s pinch-hit double. The New York Mets defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks 3-2 on Thursday night.

Arizona’s pitcher, Zac Gallen, got injured early in the game, leading to the Diamondbacks relying on relief pitchers for most of the game. Despite initially leading by two runs, the Diamondbacks couldn’t maintain their advantage and lost their fourth consecutive game.

The Mets ended their own losing streak, earning only their second win in their last ten games.

They continue to dominate the Diamondbacks, winning 20 of their last 24 matchups and 16 of their last 18 at Citi Field.

Ketel Marte’s double in the third inning gave the Diamondbacks an early lead against rookie pitcher Christian Scott. Lindor’s homer in the third inning and RBI single in the seventh helped the Mets close the gap.

Martinez, a former Diamondbacks player, sealed the victory with a home run in the eighth inning.
