Packers quarterback Jordan Love had 11 interceptions while starting all 17 games last season, so it’s reasonable to say the team didn’t expect him to be close to that number by the middle of this season.
However, that’s exactly where they are. Love has thrown at least one interception in each of the seven games he has played this season.
One of these interceptions was returned for a touchdown by Lions safety Kerby Joseph just before halftime on Sunday, contributing to the Packers’ 24-14 loss at home. This prompted more questions for head coach Matt LaFleur about the cause of these turnovers.
LaFleur interrupted one of the questions during his postgame press conference.
“You guys are going to make — I understand, like, it’s really annoying up here, though,” LaFleur said. “He’s fighting, he’s competing. We know that we’ve got to take care of the football, but I don’t question anything about what he’s trying to do. We just got to do it better.”
Love has faced knee and groin injuries this season, but he said he felt fine after Sunday’s loss. The upcoming bye week will give him a chance to rest and recover, while also allowing him to work with LaFleur on ways to reduce the number of questions about interceptions in the future.
