Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has disclosed that he doesn’t anticipate any last-minute signings for his side in the ongoing transfer window. Unlike their previous transfer windows under the Boehly-Clearlake era, Chelsea appears poised to conclude this window without securing any new additions.
Renowned for their extensive transfer activities in recent years, Chelsea has invested approximately £1 billion in acquiring players worldwide. Despite splurging over £200 million on recruits in January 2023, the club has refrained from making any signings this month.
Earlier in the season, Chelsea’s boss Mauricio Pochettino emphasized the necessity of reinforcing the squad with quality additions during the transfer window. However, in a recent press conference, he confirmed that the club is inactive in pursuing new players as the window draws to a close.
Pochettino stated via CFCPys:
“We’re quiet, the market is quiet.”
Throughout the month, Chelsea had been linked with various players, notably strikers and center-backs. Injuries to key players and striker Nicolas Jackson’s absence due to the AFCON fueled speculations of potential signings for the club.
Nevertheless, Chelsea is poised to conclude the transfer window without augmenting their squad, notwithstanding the potential departures from their ranks. Additionally, the club has recalled Italian midfielder Cesare Casadei from his loan spell at Championship leaders Leicester City to reinforce their squad.
Furthermore, Portugal U-21 forward Diego Moreira has been added to the squad after his loan spell at French club Olympique Lyonnais in the first half of the season.
