Mauricio Pochettino officially added his long-time assistant coaches to the U.S. national team staff on Monday, marking his first day on the field as the replacement for Gregg Berhalter.
Jesús Pérez is now the first assistant coach, Miguel “Miki” D’Agostino is the assistant coach, Antonio “Toni” Jiménez is the goalkeepers coach, and Sebastiano Pochettino, the head coach’s son, is the sports scientist.
Pochettino has previously coached Espanyol, Southampton, Tottenham, Paris Saint-Germain, and Chelsea before being hired by the U.S. Soccer Federation last month for the role leading up to the 2026 World Cup.
During his introductory news conference, he mentioned that he would be bringing his staff with him.
Vincent Cavin, who was brought on as an assistant coach by Berhalter in December 2023, has left the team, according to the U.S. Soccer Federation.
Gianni Vio, who was hired by Berhalter as the set piece coach, has stayed on the staff.
Silvia Tuya Viñas has been brought in as the strength and conditioning coach, previously working with the women’s team Levante Badalona.
The U.S. team began training on Monday and has friendly matches scheduled against Panama on Saturday in Austin, Texas, and against Mexico three days later in Guadalajara.
Berhalter was let go in July after the team was eliminated in the first round of the Copa America.
