Kevin Durant’s laser focus during the game against the Houston Rockets led him to miss a significant event. Reflecting on the Phoenix Suns’ defeat, Durant admitted to reporters that he wasn’t aware of Bradley Beal’s ejection until late in the fourth quarter.
“I didn’t even know Brad got thrown out until like the fourth quarter,” Durant revealed. “I thought he was just in the back. I was wondering, I thought somebody else got a tech. I was wondering why they shot two free throws and we didn’t.”
Despite the unexpected turn of events, Durant emphasized the team’s efforts to maintain momentum during the game. “It was a quick play, you try to move on and keep the momentum in our hands.
We had momentum at that time, so I think that gave us a little spark too even though we missed Brad.”
Beal’s absence was felt, as he finished with just seven points, two rebounds, and two assists in 20 minutes of play. Despite Durant’s impressive 30-point performance accompanied by nine rebounds, the Suns struggled to contain Jalen Green, who racked up 34 points, nine rebounds, and four assists.
Additionally, Fred VanVleet’s 24 points and 11 assists, along with Alperen Sengun’s 21 points and 11 rebounds, contributed to the Rockets’ victory over the Suns, marking their second win in three games since February 23rd.
