Lionel Messi stayed on the field despite an injury scare in the first half. Benjamin Cremaschi broke the tie in the 59th minute, helping Inter Miami come back from an early two-goal deficit to defeat Montreal 3-2 on Saturday night, securing their fifth straight win in Major League Soccer.

Luis Suarez scored his 11th goal of the season for Inter Miami, while Matías Rojas found the net from a free kick. Jules-Anthony Vilsaint and Bryce Duke scored for Montreal (3-5-3).

Inter Miami (8-2-3) continued their unbeaten run to seven matches (5-0-2), even though Messi didn’t score or assist for the first time in his nine MLS appearances this season. In those nine games, Inter Miami has a record of 7-0-2.

One of their losses came against Montreal in March, a game where Messi wasn’t in the lineup.

Playing in Canada for the first time, Messi briefly left the field late in the first half after an issue with his left knee following a foul by defender George Campbell. The eight-time Ballon d’Or winner immediately fell to the ground, clutching his knee and in pain.

Inter Miami’s medical team treated Messi on the field, and after about two minutes, he got up and walked to the Miami sideline. He wasn’t substituted, giving him the chance to return to the game shortly after.
