To support Francisco Lindor during his tough start to the season, New York Mets fans took a cue from what was done for Trea Turner.

Rather than booing, they cheered Lindor, the star shortstop with the big contract, showing him love and encouragement during the game against the Kansas City Royals.

Lindor expressed gratitude for the unexpected show of support, saying it meant a lot to him and his teammates.

This gesture was inspired by what happened last summer in Philadelphia, where Phillies fans rallied behind Turner when he was struggling. Their positive energy helped Turner regain his form, and he went on to have a successful season.

When the Mets were away last weekend, a fan suggested on social media that New Yorkers do the same for Lindor, and team owner Steve Cohen endorsed the idea.

Before each of Lindor’s at-bats on Friday, fans at Citi Field gave him applause. Lindor appreciated the gesture and acknowledged that he had seen the suggestion on social media.

The vocal support seemed to make a difference, as Lindor drew a walk and got a hit during the game. The Mets won, adding to their recent string of victories after a slow start to the season.

Lindor thanked the fans for their positivity, and Cohen also expressed his appreciation for the fans’ response on social media.
