Jalen Ramsey has voiced his discontent over the reported decision of the Miami Dolphins to release cornerback Xavien Howard.
Taking to social media, Ramsey expressed his admiration for Howard, praising him as the greatest cornerback in Dolphins history.
He reminisced about the privilege of playing alongside Howard but also made waves with a pointed remark seemingly aimed at former defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, declaring, “I won’t ever forgive dude for not utilizing our full skillset!”
Ramsey had the chance to collaborate with Howard in the Miami secondary last season after his trade from the Los Angeles Rams. While their partnership showed promise, Ramsey appears to believe that Fangio hindered their potential as a duo.
In the 2023 season, Ramsey accumulated three interceptions, five pass breakups, and 22 tackles across 10 games, maintaining a 95 percent defensive snap rate when healthy.
Shid be crazy how stuff plays out sometimes but 1 thing ikno fa sho is that it was an honor teaming up with the GREATEST corner in @MiamiDolphins History in my opinion… ❌🔒

Meanwhile, Howard, playing in 13 games, registered one interception, 12 pass breakups, and 45 tackles, with an 88 percent defensive snap rate—his lowest in eight years with the Dolphins.
Under Fangio’s leadership as defensive coordinator, Miami’s passing defense ranked 15th in the NFL, allowing 221.2 yards per game, while their rushing defense ranked seventh, giving up 97.1 yards per game. The team also ranked third in sacks (56) and tied for eighth in forced turnovers (27).
After the 2023 season, the Dolphins and Fangio parted ways by mutual agreement, with Anthony Weaver stepping in as his replacement.
Reports indicate that as Howard approaches free agency, he will garner significant interest in the market. Meanwhile, the Dolphins will rely on Ramsey to anchor their secondary in 2024, though their plans for replacing Howard remain uncertain.
