Tua Tagovailoa threw for 207 yards and one touchdown as the Miami Dolphins beat the Los Angeles Rams 23-15 on Monday night in Inglewood, California, ending their three-game losing streak.
Tyreek Hill, who was questionable to play due to a wrist injury, caught a touchdown pass in the second half for the Dolphins (3-6). Jason Sanders kicked three field goals, including a 50-yard kick with 2:38 left to help secure the win. Miami’s defense also recorded four sacks during the game.
Tagovailoa completed 20 of 28 passes with one interception. This win improved his record to 1-2 since returning from concussion protocol in Week 8. De’Von Achane was Miami’s leading rusher with 37 yards and also caught five passes for 15 yards.
For the Rams (4-5), Matthew Stafford went 32-of-46 passing for 293 yards but did not throw any touchdowns and threw one interception, marking his sixth straight game with an interception.
Puka Nacua caught nine passes for 98 yards, and Cooper Kupp had seven catches for 80 yards. Los Angeles saw its three-game winning streak end. Rookie kicker Joshua Karty made five field goals for the Rams, including a career-high 55-yard kick.
After Karty missed a 57-yard field goal on the Rams’ first drive of the second half, the Dolphins responded with a six-play, 53-yard drive. It ended with Hill catching a 1-yard touchdown pass from Tagovailoa, giving Miami a 17-6 lead.
The Rams gained 133 yards of offense in the fourth quarter but were only able to score three field goals from Karty.
Sanders kicked a 37-yard field goal with 9:07 left to make it 20-12. His 50-yard field goal just under three minutes later gave the Dolphins a 23-12 lead.
Miami took the opening drive of the game 70 yards in five plays, with Malik Washington scoring on a 19-yard end-around to make it 7-0. The game then turned into a defensive battle.
In the second quarter, Sanders kicked a 50-yard field goal to give Miami a 10-0 lead. The Rams answered with a 34-yard field goal from Karty at 5:46 of the second quarter. His 55-yard field goal just before halftime made it 10-6.
