Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons missed a game for the first time in his NFL career due to injury, sitting out Sunday night against Pittsburgh because of a high ankle sprain.
The Cowboys decided to keep Parsons inactive while he heals from the ankle injury he suffered during a win against the New York Giants on September 26.
Dallas also did not have defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence (foot) and wide receiver Brandin Cooks (knee), as both players were placed on injured reserve this week.
The Steelers were missing backup running backs Jaylen Warren (knee) and Cordarrelle Patterson (ankle), leaving Pittsburgh short behind starter Najee Harris. Aaron Shampklin stepped in as the main backup to Harris.
Linebacker Alex Highsmith (groin) missed his second game in a row, although Nick Herbig, who had been limited in practice, was available.
Pittsburgh quarterback Russell Wilson served as the emergency third quarterback for the fifth week in a row. Wilson is recovering from a calf injury and made some progress in practice recently but was still listed as “limited” before the game.
Other inactive players for Dallas included quarterback Trey Lance, cornerback Caelen Carson, running back Deuce Vaughn, defensive end K.J. Henry, offensive tackle Matt Waletzko, and tight end John Stephens Jr.
For Pittsburgh, rookie wide receiver Roman Wilson, guard Max Scharping, and tight end MyCole Pruitt were also inactive.
