Former heavyweight champion ‘Iron Mike’ Tyson, whose last professional boxing match was in 2005, returned to the ring 15 years later for an exhibition match. In November 2020, he fought to a draw with fellow legend Roy Jones Jr. on Triller Fight Club pay-per-view.
Tyson expressed his openness to participating in another exhibition, emphasizing the need for a compelling matchup and a substantial payday. Over the past three years, various contenders, including Jake Paul, have called out Tyson without success.
Recent reports suggested Tyson might return to the ring, initially linking him to a potential bout with former PRIDE champion Fedor Emelianenko, who retired from MMA in the previous year.
Emelianenko expressed interest in boxing and called out Tyson. Additionally, there were rumors connecting Tyson to Mark Hunt, who had announced his return to fighting and confirmed the potential bout in late 2024.
However, a recent report from DailyMail contradicts these speculations. According to one of Tyson’s representatives, the claims of fights with both Emelianenko and Hunt are false. The representative stated, “Mr. Tyson has not spoken to anyone in his camp. He is not interested in having a fight with him now or in the future.”
This development leaves fans uncertain about Tyson’s potential return to the ring. At his current age, in his late 50s, the likelihood of a comeback appears uncertain, especially against MMA legends like Emelianenko and Hunt.
In the interim, Tyson may be occupied with helping Francis Ngannou prepare for his upcoming boxing return. Tyson previously assisted Ngannou in his debut boxing match against Tyson Fury in October.
While Tyson hasn’t confirmed his involvement this time, trainer Dewey Cooper has extended an invitation for Tyson to assist Ngannou, who is set to face Anthony Joshua on March 8th.
