Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson had to leave the game in the third quarter of their 23-17 win over San Francisco on Sunday because of a bruised right quadriceps.
This injury left him feeling quite sore, but he is cautiously hopeful about playing in the next game.
Jefferson was blocking when he collided with teammate Garrett Bradbury and also got hit by 49ers linebacker Fred Warner. Despite catching a 97-yard touchdown pass earlier in the second quarter, he was in a lot of pain and had to limp off the field with help from the medical staff.
Jefferson had four catches for 133 yards on seven targets before leaving. He had missed seven games last season due to a hamstring injury.
“I’m feeling good,” Jefferson said. “We played tremendous ball all around, and at the end of the day all that matters is we’re winning and I’m not seriously injured.”
The Vikings (2-0) will play against Houston next Sunday.
“Not overly concerned, just a little thigh bruise, contusion, whatever you want to call it, something that happens a lot during football,” Jefferson said. “Just got to treat it up, get it feeling well and be ready to go next week.”
