The Dallas Stars managed to keep their lead against the high-scoring Colorado team this time. They won the game, avoiding a 0-2 deficit in the NHL playoffs.

Miro Heiskanen scored two goals on power plays, while Roope Hintz contributed with a goal and three assists, helping the Stars secure a 5-3 victory in Game 2 to even the second-round Western Conference series.

Tyler Seguin scored his first goal of the postseason during a short-handed play, extending the Stars’ lead to 4-0 late in the second period. Esa Lindell sealed the win with an empty-net goal in the final seconds, with Hintz providing his last assist.

Jake Oettinger made 28 saves against the Avalanche, who topped the NHL in regular-season scoring and had been averaging the most goals per game in the playoffs.

Although the Avalanche managed to score three goals in the third period, including one on a power play, they couldn’t equalize in the final minutes, even with an extra attacker after pulling their goalie.

Stars coach Pete DeBoer acknowledged that his team could have handled some situations better but was pleased with their performance. He believed they played better than in Game 1 and executed their game plan effectively, especially in building and maintaining their lead.

Game 3 is set for Saturday night in Denver.
