Missouri quarterback Brady Cook was sidelined for his second consecutive game due to an injury.
This time, he suffered an upper-body injury late in the first half and was not expected to return, according to a Missouri spokeswoman.
Cook started for the 21st-ranked Tigers after being listed as a game-time decision with an ankle injury but left the game late in the second quarter.
He briefly went to the locker room before returning to the sideline. Drew Pyne took over for the last two series before halftime. Pyne’s first pass was intercepted by No. 15 Alabama’s Malachi Moore, who returned it 31 yards to set up the game’s first touchdown, giving Alabama a 13-0 lead.
Cook had been listed as questionable on the Southeastern Conference’s availability reports until the final update about 90 minutes before kickoff, when it was changed to game-time decision.
He was injured during the opening series last week against Auburn but returned late in the third quarter after an MRI and helped lead the Tigers to two fourth-quarter touchdowns in a comeback 21-17 win.
Cook had 194 passing yards in less than two quarters of play.
In his absence, Pyne completed 10 of 21 passes for 78 yards.
Before the Alabama game, Cook had a completion rate of 63.1% with 1,545 yards, seven touchdowns, and one interception.
Also, Alabama safety Keon Sabb did not play on Saturday due to a lower-leg injury.
