San Francisco Giants left-handed pitcher Blake Snell couldn’t play in Wednesday’s game against the New York Mets because he hurt his left adductor, so he was put on the 15-day injured list.
The Giants’ manager, Bob Melvin, said it’s not a minor injury. They’re not sure when Snell will be back yet.
Melvin explained that Snell got hurt while practicing a few days ago. He tried to push through it, but it didn’t work out.
Before joining the Giants, Snell was a star pitcher for the San Diego Padres. However, since joining the Giants, he hasn’t been performing well. In his first three games, he didn’t win any, and his ERA (earned run average) was very high.
Snell has won the Cy Young Award in both the American League and the National League, which only a few pitchers have done in the history of baseball.
Throughout his career playing for the Rays, Padres, and now the Giants, Snell has won 71 games out of 194 starts and has an ERA of 3.30.
San Francisco brought up pitcher Landen Roupp from Triple-A Sacramento and said reliever Ryan Walker would start Wednesday’s game against New York.
The Giants won the first two games of the series and want to win all three at home against the Mets, something they haven’t done since June 6-8, 2014.
Sean Manaea, a left-handed pitcher who played for San Francisco last season, will start Wednesday’s game for New York.
