Right-hander Brandon Pfaadt has agreed to a five-year, $45 million contract extension with the Arizona Diamondbacks, continuing the team’s strategy of securing young talent with long-term deals. The contract, which begins in 2026, includes a club option for 2031 and a mutual option for 2032, ensuring Pfaadt’s potential long-term presence in Arizona’s pitching rotation.
Pfaadt, 26, emerged as one of the team’s most reliable pitchers last season, posting an 11-10 record with a 4.71 ERA. He set career highs in several categories, including wins, starts (32), innings pitched (181⅔), and strikeouts (185), proving his durability and effectiveness on the mound.

Pfaadt’s Postseason Brilliance and Diamondbacks’ Commitment to a Strong Future Core
Beyond the regular season, Pfaadt played a crucial role in the Diamondbacks’ 2023 postseason run to the World Series. He delivered strong performances in the playoffs, going 3-1 with a 3.27 ERA over five starts, providing the team with a much-needed boost in high-pressure situations.
The contract extension reflects Arizona’s commitment to locking in its promising young core, as Pfaadt joins shortstop Geraldo Perdomo and reliever Justin Martinez in signing long-term deals. Pfaadt, originally a fifth-round pick out of Bellarmine in 2020, will earn $799,400 this year before his new contract takes effect.
