Heliot Ramos hits a home run in the eighth inning

Mickey Moniak got three hits, Tyler Anderson held San Francisco to one run over five-plus innings, and the Los Angeles Angels secured an 8-6 victory against the Giants on Friday night.

Anderson, who pitched for the Giants in 2020, has allowed only one run in five of his last six starts.

The Angels scored one run in the third inning, followed by three runs in the third and four more in the fourth. The Giants mounted a five-run rally in the eighth inning.

In the third inning, Taylor Ward scored from first base on a shallow double hit by Kevin Pillar to right field, taking advantage of Austin Slater’s wide throw to second base. Moniak, currently on a six-game hitting streak, then hit a double to drive in two more runs, extending the lead to 4-0.

Zach Neto crushed a two-run home run to deep left-center field in the fourth inning. Moniak also tripled and scored later in the inning, increasing the lead to 8-1.

Heliot Ramos hit a three-run home run in the Giants’ five-run eighth inning, narrowing the gap to 8-6. However, Carlos Estévez closed out the game in the ninth inning to secure his 11th save of the season for the Angels.

Giants starter Spencer Howard (0-1) gave up four runs in 2 1/3 innings, issuing four walks and allowing seven hits. The Angels continued to score, adding four more runs against reliever Randy Rodriguez.

Wilmer Flores reached a career milestone with his 1,000th hit, a single to lead off the fourth inning, and later scored the Giants’ first run of the game.
