Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White expressed his frustration after his team fell victim to what many believed was an offside goal by Manchester United in the FA Cup 5th-round clash.

The contentious goal stemmed from United defender Raphael Varane being in an offside position, potentially impacting the Forest defenders’ ability to play.

Taking to Instagram, Gibbs-White shared a post comparing this incident to Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk having a goal disallowed for offside in the EFL Cup final against Chelsea.

While Varane’s involvement was deemed non-interfering by VAR, in Van Dijk’s case, Wataru Endo’s offside position was considered obstructive, impeding Chelsea’s Levi Colwill from marking Van Dijk.

Despite United’s struggles, particularly in the absence of Rasmus Hojlund, they managed to secure victory with Casemiro’s late goal from a free-kick by Bruno Fernandes.

The match was not without further controversy, as Forest defender Felipe escaped punishment for an incident involving Fernandes.

Looking ahead, United will face Liverpool in the FA Cup quarterfinals on March 16, followed by a crucial Premier League clash against Manchester City on March 3.
