The ongoing legal dispute between motocross stars Hunter and Jett Lawrence and their former agent, Lucas Mirtl, has taken new turns. The Lawrence brothers, who ride for the Honda HRC Progressive team, abruptly terminated Mirtl’s contract in January, accusing him of misusing and misappropriating their personal funds.

They alleged that Mirtl had spent significant amounts of their money for his own benefit, prompting their decision to take legal action. In response, Mirtl was also dismissed from Wasserman Media Group (WMG), the agency he was affiliated with.

Mirtl Denies Allegations as Lawrence Brothers Pursue Legal Action in Florida

Following his dismissal, Mirtl made a public statement on the PulpMX Show on January 27, where he strongly denied the allegations. Despite his denial, the Lawrence brothers proceeded to file a lawsuit against him in the U.S. District Court in Florida on January 30. The lawsuit claimed that Mirtl had misused over $600,000 of their funds. This legal action marked the beginning of a serious legal battle between the two parties.

On March 14, the Lawrence brothers voluntarily withdrew their lawsuit from federal court without prejudice, meaning they could refile it. A social media post from WMG’s Jacob Hayes clarified that the case was dismissed from federal court because neither the Lawrences nor Mirtl are U.S. citizens.

Additionally, the legal complexity of the parties living in different states—Florida and Texas—further complicated the matter. However, this was not the end of the dispute, as the Lawrences had already refiled their lawsuit at the state level in Florida on March 3.

Mirtl Served Summons as Legal Battle Shifts to Florida State Court

With the case now being handled by the Circuit Court of the Sixth Judicial District in Pasco County, Florida, new legal steps have been taken. On March 7, the Pasco County Clerk issued a summons for Mirtl, which was officially served to him on March 12.

This summons gives Mirtl 20 days to respond in writing to the lawsuit. The shift to a state-level case indicates that the legal battle will continue, with Mirtl now required to answer the allegations in Florida state court.

Despite facing legal action, Mirtl has remained steadfast in his defense. He took to social media, describing the allegations as “pure fiction.” He has continued his work as an agent, representing high-profile motocross riders such as Tom Vialle, Jo Shimoda, and Lucas and Sacha Coenen. With the case now in Florida state court, the dispute remains unresolved, and further developments are expected as both sides prepare for the next legal steps.
