Fulham’s Rodrigo Muniz struck twice as Tottenham faltered, missing the opportunity to secure fourth place in the Premier League with a 3-0 defeat at Craven Cottage on Saturday.
Muniz showcased his prowess with goals on either side of Saša Lukić’s first goal of the season, elevating his recent top-flight goal tally to seven in seven matches.
Tottenham, sitting in fifth place, had the chance to surpass Aston Villa into fourth, if only for a night. Villa’s match against West Ham was scheduled for Sunday.
Fulham initiated the early offensive, led by Muniz, who exploited space and threatened Tottenham’s defense. Despite Cristian Romero’s initial block, Muniz persisted, eventually breaking through with a powerful finish past Guglielmo Vicario.
The hosts extended their lead when Timothy Castagne’s cross deflected off Lukic’s thigh into the net, doubling their advantage before halftime.
Muniz continued his impressive performance, seizing an opportunity in the box to secure his second goal in the 61st minute, earning a standing ovation as he left the pitch after being substituted.
Although Joao Palhinha appeared to add a fourth, it was disallowed for offside following interference from substitute Raul Jimenez.
