Napheesa Collier scored 20 points, leading the Minnesota Lynx to an 83-66 win over the Chicago Sky on Friday night, marking their fifth consecutive victory.
Collier also pulled down eight rebounds for Minnesota (28-9), which has won 12 of its last 13 games. Courtney Williams added 14 points and 10 assists, and Alanna Smith contributed 11 points and 12 rebounds.
For Chicago (13-24), Chennedy Carter scored 17 points. The Sky’s loss means they are now tied with Washington for the last playoff spot after losing nine of their last 11 games. Kamilla Cardoso had 16 points and 10 rebounds, while Lindsay Allen and reserve Rachel Banham both scored 10 points.
Dana Evans’ three-pointer gave Chicago a 29-23 lead with 6:34 left in the first half. Kayla McBride then hit a three-pointer and scored two free throws during an 11-0 run that gave Minnesota a five-point lead.
Collier started the third quarter with a three-pointer, and Williams scored three baskets in another 11-0 run for Minnesota.
Chicago is now 0-3 since losing rookie Angel Reese to a broken left wrist. Reese, who set a rookie record for double-doubles, is leading the league with an average of 13.1 rebounds per game.
