Anthony Edwards hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with 2:24 left to help the Minnesota Timberwolves secure a 93-92 win over the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday night in Minneapolis during NBA Cup West Group A action.
Minnesota grabbed two offensive rebounds in the final seconds to run out the clock.
Edwards finished the game with 21 points for the Timberwolves, who completed group play with a 2-2 record.
James Harden (20 points, 11 assists) and Ivica Zubac (16 points, 13 rebounds) both posted double-doubles for Los Angeles, which dropped to 1-2 in West Group A with one more game remaining. Kevin Porter Jr. scored 17 points but suffered an apparent ankle injury late in the fourth quarter.
Hawks 117, Cavaliers 101
De’Andre Hunter led Atlanta with 23 points off the bench, helping them beat Cleveland and win the NBA Cup East Group C title.
Trae Young added 21 points and 11 assists for Atlanta, who beat Cleveland for the second game in a row. Jalen Johnson contributed 20 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists for the Hawks.
Darius Garland led Cleveland with 29 points, while Evan Mobley had 24 points and 12 rebounds. Donovan Mitchell added 12 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists but struggled with a 5-for-23 shooting performance. Cleveland has lost three of its last five games after starting the season 15-0.
Pistons 130, Pacers 106
Cade Cunningham returned from injury to score 24 points, and Detroit stayed unbeaten in the NBA Cup with a win over Indiana, eliminating the defending runner-up.
Malik Beasley led Detroit with 25 points, while Jaden Ivey added 23 points and Tobias Harris contributed 16 for the Pistons, who will face the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday in a game for the East Group B title.
Pascal Siakam scored 21 points, and Tyrese Haliburton added 19 for the Pacers, who fell behind by as many as 12 points in the first quarter and never caught up.
Knicks 99, Hornets 98
Jalen Brunson scored 11 of his 31 points in the last five minutes of regulation to lead New York past Charlotte in NBA Cup Group A play.
The Knicks improved to 3-0 in their group, with double-doubles from Karl-Anthony Towns (19 points, 12 rebounds) and Josh Hart (13 points, 12 rebounds). Brunson made 3-of-4 free throws in the final 14 seconds to secure the win after trailing by as much as 10 points in the first half.
Brandon Miller led Charlotte (0-3 in the Cup) with 20 points, as LaMelo Ball missed the game due to a left calf injury.
Grizzlies 120, Pelicans 107
Ja Morant scored 27 points, Jaren Jackson Jr. added 23 points, and reserve Santi Aldama had 20 points to lead Memphis to its first NBA Cup win over New Orleans.
The Pelicans, playing without Zion Williamson (hamstring) and Brandon Ingram (calf), lost their seventh straight game. Memphis, which had a 0-6 record in NBA Cup play over the past two seasons, won its fifth straight and its ninth in the last 12 games.
CJ McCollum led New Orleans with a season-high 30 points. Dejounte Murray and Trey Murphy III added 21 points each, and Yves Missi contributed 16 points and 14 rebounds.
Heat 121, Raptors 111
Jimmy Butler scored a game-high 26 points as Miami defeated Toronto. Both teams were eliminated from the NBA Cup with the loss for Toronto and the win for Miami.
Bam Adebayo posted a triple-double with 14 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists, while Tyler Herro contributed 23 points for the Heat.
For Toronto, South Florida native Scottie Barnes recorded 24 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists. RJ Barrett had 25 points, seven assists, and six rebounds, while Jakob Poeltl added 24 points and 10 rebounds.
Celtics 138, Bulls 129
Jayson Tatum had 35 points and 14 rebounds, and Payton Pritchard scored 29 points off the bench as Boston defeated Chicago.
Pritchard made 7 of 11 three-pointers and scored 19 points in the fourth quarter. Boston also got 21 points each from Kristaps Porzingis and Jaylen Brown. The Celtics improved to 3-1 in the NBA Cup and still have a chance to move on as a wild card.
Nikola Vucevic led Chicago with 32 points and 11 rebounds. Zach LaVine added 29 points and hit four 3-pointers, passing Kirk Hinrich for the most career three-pointers in Bulls history.
Magic 123, Nets 100
Franz Wagner scored 21 of his 29 points in the first half as Orlando took control late in the second quarter and pulled away in the third for an NBA Cup win over Brooklyn.
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope added four 3-pointers and 19 points for Orlando, which shot 53% and matched a season-high with 18 made 3-pointers. The Magic improved to 3-0 in Group A.
Shake Milton led Brooklyn with 22 points, and Keon Johnson added 15 as the Nets’ bench contributed 58 points. Brooklyn finished 1-3 in NBA Cup play and was eliminated.
