New York Jets pass rusher Haason Reddick has been absent from his new team following an offseason trade from the Philadelphia Eagles. His ongoing holdout, one of the more unusual in recent NFL history, has resulted in Reddick forfeiting millions of dollars.

Compounding his financial troubles, Reddick is now facing a lawsuit in which he is accused of owing an additional $1.6 million, creating further complications for the player as he remains absent from team activities.

The lawsuit was filed by Micah Khan, who claims Reddick failed to pay him a promised $1.6 million after the sale of Haven Home Health Agency, a senior care business owned by Reddick. Although Reddick did not directly run the company, his father and an administrator managed the operations on his behalf.

In 2021, Khan was hired to improve the struggling business by handling marketing and business development, under an agreement that he would receive half of the sale proceeds if the company was sold.

Khan asserts that his efforts helped stabilize and improve the company, leading to its sale earlier this year for $3.25 million. When Khan requested his share of the sale proceeds, he claims Reddick’s father, Raymond Matthews, responded aggressively.

Allegedly, Matthews showed up to a meeting with “security” and threatened to visit Khan’s wife’s workplace and his son’s after-school program, turning what had been a business dispute into a hostile confrontation.

Ross Wolfe, Khan’s attorney, stated that attempts were made to resolve the issue out of court, but these efforts were unsuccessful. As a result, Khan moved forward with legal action, adding another legal and financial burden to Reddick’s situation, which remains unresolved both on and off the field.
