The Jets have moved linebacker Marcelino McCrary-Ball and quarterback Adrian Martinez from the practice squad to the active roster for their game against the Vikings in London on Sunday.
McCrary-Ball, who is 6 feet tall and weighs 214 pounds, has played in the last two games, mainly on special teams, where he took 32 snaps. The former Indiana player joined the practice squad in August 2023 and was added to the active roster last January.
He has played in two games for the Jets, with 19 snaps on special teams. McCrary-Ball started his career with the 49ers as an undrafted free agent in 2022 and was with San Francisco for two training camps before joining the Jets during the 2023 season.
Martinez, standing at 6 feet 2 inches and weighing 220 pounds, joined the Jets in July. During the preseason, he threw for 270 yards, had no touchdowns, and made one interception, completing 53.2% of his passes.
After being released, he was re-signed to the practice squad. Before joining the Jets, he played with the Birmingham Stallions in the United Football League, where he earned MVP honors by passing for 1,749 yards and 15 touchdowns, and led the league with 528 rushing yards.
The Nebraska and Kansas State alum went undrafted in 2023 and initially signed with the Detroit Lions, spending the last preseason with them. From 2018 to 2022, Martinez played in 49 college games, completing 63.6% of his passes for 9,752 yards with 51 touchdowns and 31 interceptions.
