Aaron Rodgers has been cleared from the New York Jets’ injury report and is set to start on Monday night against the Buffalo Bills.
The quarterback fully participated in practice on Saturday after being limited on Thursday and Friday due to a sprained ankle. Interim coach Jeff Ulbrich mentioned earlier in the week that Rodgers also had a hamstring issue.
Despite having his worst game with the Jets last Sunday, where he threw three interceptions in a loss to Minnesota in London, the 40-year-old Rodgers is ready to play. His leg was twisted awkwardly during the game, but he managed to continue.
“He’s looked really good,” Ulbrich said. “He’s a magician when it comes to taking care of his body and all the recovery work. He looks like Aaron, which is fantastic.”
Ulbrich took over as head coach after Robert Saleh was fired and made changes to the coaching staff, including removing Nathaniel Hackett as play caller. Todd Downing, the passing game coordinator and quarterbacks coach, will lead the struggling offense against the Bills.
On defense, the Jets will be without nickel cornerback Michael Carter II, who hurt his back during warmups last week and didn’t practice at all. He was ruled out on Saturday.
Linebacker C.J. Mosley might return after missing three games due to a toe injury. He is listed as questionable after being limited in practice all week.
“We’ve been gradually increasing his practice reps,” Ulbrich said. “He’s felt better this week than he has in a while, so we’re hopeful.”
Defensive tackle Leki Fotu is also making progress and may play after spending the first five games on injured reserve with a hamstring injury. His practice window opened last week, but the Jets decided to wait a bit longer before activating him.
Linebacker Jamien Sherwood, who injured a hand in practice, was able to participate fully and was not listed on the final injury report.
Tight end Tyler Conklin is questionable to play after being limited all week with a hip issue. He has 17 receptions, ranking fourth on the team.
