Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams, along with several other NFL rookies and San Francisco 49ers star Christian McCaffrey, were recently asked to predict their Madden NFL 25 ratings for the 2024 NFL season.

The predictions varied widely, with some of the guesses reflecting a touch of humor and ambition. While most rookies estimated their ratings in the low to mid-80s range, Buffalo Bills rookie Frank Gore Jr. made a bold prediction of a 99 rating, although this was likely intended as a joke.

Christian McCaffrey anticipated a 99 rating, which seemed reasonable given his high profile and performance. His prediction was seen as fair by many, considering he is one of the standout players in the league.

In contrast, Caleb Williams humorously guessed he would be a 99 before settling on a more modest estimate of 81 or 82. New York Giants rookie Malik Nabers also projected an 85 rating, citing his strong attributes as justification for a high rating.

Other rookies provided lower predictions for their Madden ratings. Jacksonville Jaguars wideout Brian Thomas Jr. guessed an 80 overall, while Washington Commanders defensive tackle Jer’Zhan Newton and New England Patriots rookie Ja’Lynn Polk both anticipated ratings of 78. Polk hoped his catching attributes would be rated highly, specifically targeting a 95 in that area.

To put these predictions in context, the highest rookie rating in Madden NFL 23 was 81 overall, achieved by Atlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson. Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter was next at 79, followed by a group of rookies, including Houston Texans edge-rusher Will Anderson Jr. and Seattle Seahawks cornerback Devon Witherspoon, who was rated 78.

Given the high expectations for the 2024 rookie class, it is possible that more players could achieve ratings around the 80 threshold. Williams, as the top overall pick and other notable rookies like Marvin Harrison Jr. and Brock Bowers may have a strong chance of reaching or surpassing the 80 rating mark.

However, achieving a perfect 99 rating, as Gore ambitiously predicted, will likely require significant accomplishments and continued impressive performance on the field.
