The Carolina Panthers have added tight end Tyler Mabry to their roster, filling the spot left open after releasing linebacker Josey Jewell. Mabry, who recently worked out with the team, brings familiarity with the coaching staff due to his time with the Seattle Seahawks, where he played under current Panthers head coach Dave Canales and tight ends coach Pat McPherson.
Mabry has limited NFL experience, appearing in 10 games since entering the league in 2020. However, his lone reception was a touchdown, which shows he can contribute in red-zone situations. His background and system knowledge make him a logical addition as the Panthers look to stabilize their tight end group during camp.

Injuries Create Opportunities as Panthers Adjust Roster Ahead of Training Camp Opener
The timing of Mabry’s signing is significant, as starting tight end Tommy Tremble will miss the start of training camp after being placed on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list. Tremble is recovering from offseason back surgery, leaving the position temporarily thin and creating an opportunity for Mabry to make an impact.
In addition to the change at tight end, the Panthers also placed defensive tackle Bobby Brown III on the active/non-football injury list. Though Brown is sidelined for now, he can return to practice at any time during camp once medically cleared. The team will continue to monitor his progress while evaluating other position battles across the roster.
