Kansas City radio host and podcaster Kevin Kietzman launched a scathing critique of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, reacting to newly surfaced vacation photos of Mahomes celebrating the Fourth of July with his wife, Brittany.
On his “Uncanceled” radio show and “Kevin Kietzman Has Issues” podcast, Kietzman accused Mahomes of appearing overweight and claimed the quarterback was physically unprepared for the upcoming NFL season. He labeled Mahomes “an embarrassment” and implored him to cut out fast food and adopt a more serious fitness regimen.
Kietzman Urges Mahomes to Prioritize Fitness and Stop Relying Solely on Talent
Kietzman suggested that Mahomes’ physical state does not align with the high expectations set by the quarterback himself after last season’s Super Bowl loss. He criticized Mahomes’ offseason approach, comparing his appearance to someone decades older and chastising him for allegedly relying on fast food like Taco Bell and fried chicken.
According to Kietzman, simply maintaining arm strength is insufficient; Mahomes must show full-body commitment to peak performance.

Continuing his harsh assessment, Kietzman claimed Mahomes can no longer coast on talent alone and argued that modern elite athletes must arrive at training camp in top condition. He likened Mahomes’ approach to outdated training habits from the 1970s and expressed concern that the quarterback was resting on his laurels.
While acknowledging Mahomes’ immense talent, Kietzman said his criticism came from a place of concern, aiming to motivate the star athlete to fulfill his potential more completely.
Mahomes Embraces ‘Dad Bod’ Image, But Critics Demand Peak Conditioning This Season
This isn’t the first time Mahomes’ physique has drawn attention. The quarterback previously went viral for his so-called “dad bod,” a label he embraced with humor by collaborating with Coors Light in a campaign. In an interview with Time Magazine, Mahomes defended his body type, stating it offered functional benefits for a quarterback enduring physical hits throughout the season. He emphasized that his build serves a purpose beyond aesthetics.
Despite the criticism, Mahomes remains listed at 225 pounds as he prepares for his ninth NFL season. While Kietzman insisted that his concern wasn’t purely about weight, he emphasized the importance of core strength and suggested Mahomes should “do some crunches.” As one of the league’s highest-paid and most scrutinized athletes, Mahomes now faces renewed public pressure—not just to win, but to appear in peak physical condition heading into the 2025 NFL season.
