Edge rusher Randy Gregory signed with the Buccaneers this week, reuniting him with one of his former coaches.

Bucs outside linebackers coach George Edwards previously worked with Gregory when he played for the Cowboys. Edwards mentioned in a Thursday press conference that he knows what Gregory is capable of on the field.

Although Gregory hasn’t played under Bucs head coach Todd Bowles before, he feels confident that both coaches will bring out the best in him this season.

“I spoke with [Bowles], I remember, coming out of college during the draft and speaking with him a bunch,” Gregory said, as reported by Kristie Ackert of the Tampa Bay Times. “I loved his personality, loved his down-to-earth demeanor. [He is a] no-nonsense type of guy. I think I always thrive well when I work with coaches like that.”

Gregory will be part of the Bucs’ edge rush alongside YaYa Diaby, Joe Tryon-Shoyinka, and Anthony Nelson. If he performs well under Bowles’ guidance, Gregory can expect significant playing time in the upcoming season.
