Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice is facing a civil lawsuit filed by Dacoda Jones, the mother of his two children, alleging physical abuse and assault spanning from December 2023 to July 2025. The suit, filed Monday in Dallas County, Texas, claims Rice caused Jones “severe and permanent injuries” and seeks damages exceeding $1 million. Rice has not been criminally charged in connection with these allegations, and the lawsuit does not clarify whether authorities were notified.

According to the filing, Rice and Jones previously lived together in Dallas’ Victory Park area and Lee’s Summit, Missouri. The lawsuit details multiple incidents of alleged violence, including strangulation, pushing, hitting, scratching, and headbutting, as well as attacks with inanimate objects. Jones also alleges property destruction, such as punching walls, breaking furniture, and being locked out at night. Many incidents reportedly occurred while Jones was pregnant.

NFL Investigates Rashee Rice Following Allegations of Domestic Abuse and Misconduct

The allegations follow Jones’ recent Instagram post showing bruises and scratches on her body, along with damaged property, which she later deleted. She wrote about enduring abuse over eight years and expressed frustration over protecting Rice’s public image. The Chiefs have said they are in communication with the NFL regarding the matter, but have otherwise declined to comment. NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy confirmed the situation remains under review under the league’s personal conduct policy.

Rice, entering the final year of his rookie contract, previously served a six-game suspension at the start of the 2025-26 season for pleading guilty to two third-degree felony charges stemming from a 2024 multi-vehicle crash in Dallas. The charges involved racing on a highway, causing bodily injury, and a collision resulting in serious injury. Rice received five years of deferred probation, 30 days in jail, and was ordered to pay over $115,000 in restitution.

After serving his suspension, Rice returned to play on October 19 against the Las Vegas Raiders, participating in eight games this season. The civil lawsuit now introduces a new challenge for the receiver, with potential legal and reputational consequences pending as the NFL continues its review.

This case highlights ongoing scrutiny for NFL players regarding personal conduct, emphasizing the league’s policy enforcement amid serious allegations of domestic violence.
