Vancouver Canucks and Detroit Red Wings

Jake DeBrusk completed his hat trick with the game-winning goal, scoring with one minute remaining in overtime to help the Vancouver Canucks beat the Detroit Red Wings 5-4 on Sunday afternoon.

DeBrusk also scored two power-play goals in just 43 seconds early in the second period. Pius Suter and Erik Brannstrom added the other goals for Vancouver. DeBrusk’s game-winner came on a shot from the left side, assisted by Elias Pettersson and Quinn Hughes, who each had three assists. Kevin Lankinen made 27 saves and is now 10-0-0 on the road this season, setting an NHL record.

For Detroit, Jonatan Berggren, Alex DeBrincat, Michael Rasmussen, and Vladimir Tarasenko scored. Berggren also added an assist, while Lucas Raymond, Dylan Larkin, and Marco Kasper each had two assists.

Detroit’s starting goalie, Cam Talbot, left the game in the second period with a lower-body injury. Ville Husso replaced him and made 15 saves.

Bruins 6, Canadiens 3

Charlie McAvoy and Charlie Coyle each scored two goals as the Boston Bruins marked their 100th anniversary with a win over the Montreal Canadiens at home.

McAvoy’s goals came at the start and end of a 4-0 run for the Bruins. Cole Koepke scored a goal and assisted on another, while David Pastrnak also found the net in his 700th career game. The Bruins’ victory came exactly 100 years after their first-ever NHL game, which was a 2-1 win against the Montreal Maroons on Dec. 1, 1924.

For Montreal, Cole Caufield scored two goals, Emil Heineman added one, and Nick Suzuki contributed two assists.

Boston Bruins and Montreal Canadiens

Blue Jackets 6, Blackhawks 3

Sean Monahan had a goal and an assist for the Columbus Blue Jackets, who extended their point streak to six games with a 6-3 win against the Chicago Blackhawks.

Damon Severson had three assists, while Cole Sillinger and Zach Werenski each recorded two for the Blue Jackets, who are 5-0-1 in their last six games. Elvis Merzlikins made 28 saves in the win.

For Chicago, Connor Bedard scored a goal and added an assist, while Petr Mrazek made 30 saves. The Blackhawks have now lost six of their last eight games.

Stars 3, Jets 1

Mason Marchment scored the go-ahead goal in the third period to help the Dallas Stars defeat the Winnipeg Jets 3-1 at home.

Wyatt Johnston and Roope Hintz also scored for Dallas, and Thomas Harley had two assists. Goaltender Jake Oettinger made 26 saves and also earned an assist. Dallas has won two games in a row.

Adam Lowry scored the lone goal for Winnipeg, and Connor Hellebuyck stopped 28 shots. The Jets have now lost their third straight game and four of their last five.
