Adrian Kempe and Alex Laferriere scored in the first two periods, helping the Los Angeles Kings extend their winning streak to five games with a 4-1 win over the Minnesota Wild on Saturday night.
Trevor Moore scored two empty-net goals, and Anze Kopitar provided an assist for the Kings in his 1,400th career game.
Darcy Kuemper, the Los Angeles goaltender, made 22 saves in his 400th career game as the Kings secured their second win of the season over the Wild, who are tied for the NHL lead in points.
Yakov Trenin scored for the Wild, and Marc-Andre Fleury made 30 saves. Minnesota saw their five-game winning streak end on the second night of a back-to-back. This loss marked just their second regulation loss on the road this season.
Minnesota’s Kirill Kaprizov, who was the NHL’s point leader, saw his three-game goal streak and five-game point streak come to an end.

Michael Kesselring and Mikhail Sergachev scored 24 seconds apart in the second period, giving Utah a lead over Buffalo and helping Andre Tourigny secure his 100th win as an NHL coach.
Alexander Kerfoot had two assists, and Nick Schmaltz scored his fourth goal in three games for Utah.
For the third straight game, the Sabres led after the first period. However, they failed to maintain the lead, losing their sixth straight game (0-4-2). This marks Buffalo’s longest losing streak since they lost eight games in a row from October 25 to November 19, 2022.
Bruins 4, Flyers 3 (OT)
Pavel Zacha scored his second overtime game-winning goal in three games, leading Boston past Philadelphia.
After Boston’s goaltender Jeremy Swayman (23 saves) stopped a Joel Farabee breakaway, David Pastrnak fed Zacha for the back-door finish to end the game at 2:49 of overtime. Trent Frederic scored two goals, and Brad Marchand tied the game for Boston, which has now won four straight.
Matvei Michkov gave Philadelphia a 2-0 lead in the first period, becoming the first NHL rookie this season to reach 10 goals. Cam York also scored, Travis Sanheim had two assists, and Aleksei Kolosov made 27 saves. Philadelphia has lost two consecutive games (0-1-1) after a 4-0-1 stretch.
Islanders 4, Hurricanes 3
Bo Horvat ended a long scoring drought to help New York complete a comeback against Carolina in Elmont, N.Y.
Jean-Gabriel Pageau and Oliver Wahlstrom each scored a tying goal before Maxim Tsyplakov gave the Islanders a 3-2 lead with 3:44 left in the second period. Horvat scored the game-winning goal, his first in 14 games, just 2:39 later. Ilya Sorokin made 28 saves, including 18 in the third period.
Andrei Svechnikov scored twice for the Hurricanes, and Jesperi Kotkaniemi scored with the extra attacker in the final minute. Carolina has lost four of its last five games (1-4-0). Pyotr Kochetkov made 21 saves.
Oilers 4, Blues 2
Connor McDavid scored once and added an assist to lead Edmonton to victory over St. Louis.
Corey Perry, Zach Hyman, and Troy Stecher also scored, and Leon Draisaitl had two assists. Goaltender Stuart Skinner made 29 saves for the Oilers, who have won five of their last six games.
Dylan Holloway and Jake Neighbours scored for the Blues, who lost in regulation for the first time in six games, ending a streak that began when Jim Montgomery took over as coach. Goalie Jordan Binnington stopped 17 shots.
Penguins 5, Maple Leafs 2
Rickard Rakell and Bryan Rust each had a goal and an assist for Pittsburgh in a win over Toronto.
Michael Bunting, Blake Lizotte, and Kris Letang also scored, and Tristan Jarry made 25 saves for the Penguins, who have won five of their last six games.
Mitch Marner had a goal and an assist, William Nylander also scored, Auston Matthews had two assists, and Joseph Woll made 24 saves for the Maple Leafs, who have lost two straight after a three-game winning streak.

Linus Ullmark made 37 saves on 38 shots in Ottawa’s win over Nashville, which lost its seventh consecutive game.
Jacob Bernard-Docker, Claude Giroux, and Nick Cousins scored for the Senators, and Tim Stutzle added two assists.
Fedor Svechkov ended Ullmark’s shutout bid by scoring Nashville’s only goal with 1:57 left in the game. Juuse Saros made 27 saves for the Predators.
Jets 4, Blackhawks 2
Mark Scheifele scored the go-ahead goal midway through the third period, and Kyle Connor had two assists to lead Winnipeg past Chicago.
The Blackhawks, under interim coach Anders Sorensen for the first time, led 1-0 and 2-1 but couldn’t hold onto the lead, suffering their season-worst fifth consecutive loss.
Connor Hellebuyck stopped 12 shots, and the Jets won their second consecutive game after a four-game losing streak.
Panthers 3, Sharks 1
Matthew Tkachuk scored twice to lead Florida to a win over San Jose.
Aleksander Barkov also scored for the Panthers, who have now won 11 straight games against the Sharks and have points in six straight games (5-0-1). Sergei Bobrovsky, who missed Florida’s previous two games for the birth of his child, made 28 saves for his 14th career win against San Jose.
Tyler Toffoli scored the only goal for the Sharks, who have dropped back-to-back games after a three-game winning streak. Mackenzie Blackwood made 49 saves in the loss.
Capitals 4, Canadiens 2
Tom Wilson scored two goals in the third period, leading Washington to a comeback win over Montreal and extending their franchise record with their ninth straight road victory.
Pierre-Luc Dubois had a goal and an assist, and Dylan Strome also scored for Washington. Aliaksei Protas had two assists, and Logan Thompson made 22 saves.
Cole Caufield had a goal and an assist, and Alex Newhook also scored for the Canadiens, who were aiming for their first three-game winning streak. Sam Montembeault made 31 saves. Montreal’s Lane Hutson (assist) extended his point streak to six games, tying the franchise record for longest point streak by a rookie defenseman.

Alexandar Georgiev made 29 saves to help Colorado defeat Detroit.
Georgiev had been pulled in his last game after allowing four goals in under 12 minutes against Buffalo, but he bounced back here. Valeri Nichushkin scored his third goal in two games, and Cale Makar added a power-play goal for Colorado, which had lost four of its previous six games.
Lucas Raymond scored for Detroit, which has lost five straight games. Ville Husso made 23 saves in his third consecutive start, as Cam Talbot and Alex Lyon were sidelined with lower-body injuries.
