Spott brings with him an impressive track record from his three seasons with the Dallas Stars, during which the team reached the Western Conference Final three consecutive times. Under his guidance, the Stars achieved a league-best regular-season record of 149-68-29 and boasted a power play success rate of 23.7%, ranking seventh in the NHL. His tactical knowledge and ability to maximize team performance were key to the Stars’ recent success.

Extensive Coaching Legacy Across NHL, Juniors, and International Levels Shapes Bruins’ Staff

Before his time in Dallas, Spott held assistant coaching positions with the Vegas Golden Knights and the San Jose Sharks, contributing to each team’s strategic and competitive development.

His NHL coaching career began with the Toronto Maple Leafs, following a successful season as head coach of their AHL affiliate, the Toronto Marlies. Spott’s leadership helped the Marlies secure a division title and reach the Calder Cup Western Conference Finals in 2014.

Spott’s coaching journey started in the Ontario Hockey League and spanned over a decade with the Plymouth Whalers and Kitchener Rangers, eventually becoming head coach of the latter. Internationally, he has earned gold and silver medals with Team Canada in junior competitions.

As a player, Spott enjoyed a productive collegiate career at Colgate University before spending two seasons in the professional ranks. His extensive experience now completes the Bruins’ coaching team, joining Jay Leach, Chris Kelly, and Bob Essensa under Marco Sturm’s leadership.
