The Seattle Kraken have bolstered their offensive lineup by acquiring forward Mason Marchment from the Dallas Stars. In exchange, the Kraken will send a 2025 fourth-round draft pick and a 2026 third-round pick to Dallas. Marchment, a 30-year-old power forward, brings size and scoring ability to Seattle’s roster, having tied his career-best with 22 goals and adding 25 assists over 62 regular-season games last season.
Kraken general manager Jason Botterill praised Marchment’s combination of size, skill, and experience. Standing at 6-foot-5, Marchment is among the NHL’s tallest players and has played in several deep playoff runs with Dallas. Botterill emphasized that Marchment’s toughness and postseason experience will be valuable to the Kraken as they continue to build a competitive roster.

Stars Clear Cap Space by Trading Proven Veteran Marchment
For the Stars, the trade primarily serves as a move to shed salary. Marchment’s contract, with a $4.5 million cap hit in its final year, became a financial burden after the team committed to an eight-year, $96 million deal with trade-deadline addition Mikko Rantanen. With tight salary cap constraints, Dallas opted to move Marchment to maintain flexibility.
Marchment brings a solid track record with him, having accumulated 76 goals and 113 assists across 302 regular-season games during stints with the Stars, Florida Panthers, and Toronto Maple Leafs. In the postseason, he has added 11 goals and 8 assists in 59 appearances, reinforcing his value as a seasoned contributor in high-pressure situations.
