Louis Domingue, a veteran goaltender who spent last season largely in the AHL, is reportedly on the verge of leaving North America to join Sibir Novosibirsk in Russia’s KHL. At 33 years old, Domingue appears to be continuing his career overseas after not securing an NHL contract during free agency.
In the 2024–25 season, Domingue posted a 3.32 goals-against average in the AHL and made just one appearance for the New York Rangers. Despite limited NHL action, he earned a win in that game with 25 saves, showcasing his ability to step in when needed.

Veteran Goalie Domingue Heads to KHL After Seven-Team NHL Career Ends Quietly
Throughout his NHL career, Domingue has played for seven teams and compiled a record of 61-60-10 in 144 games. His NHL numbers include a 3.01 goals-against average and a .906 save percentage, in addition to over 200 starts at the AHL level, underscoring his experience as a reliable depth goaltender.
With no NHL teams signing him deep into free agency, Domingue’s move to the KHL seems like a natural next step. While the Rangers lose a seasoned option in their goalie pipeline, the transition may offer Domingue more playing time and a fresh opportunity abroad.
