Browns General Manager Andrew Berry mentioned in January that he didn’t want running back Nick Chubb’s career to end on a sour note with his injury last year. Berry assured that the team would make efforts to keep Chubb on board for the 2024 season.
Their efforts have led to a revised contract. Chubb was initially slated to earn $11.775 million in the upcoming season, but according to NFL Media, he has agreed to lower his salary to stay with the team.
The exact amount of the reduction is not disclosed, but the report suggests that Chubb can make up for it through undisclosed incentives.
Chubb had to undergo multiple surgeries to mend his knee ligaments after being injured in Week Two of the last season. Although the team provided a positive update on his recovery during the recent league meetings, it’s still uncertain when he’ll be fit to return to the field.
