At the beginning of training camp, Browns General Manager Andrew Berry mentioned that running back Nick Chubb still needed “a little ways to go” before he could be fully cleared to return from the knee injury that ended his season last year.
Chubb is reportedly not quite ready yet. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Chubb is expected to stay on the physically unable-to-perform list into the regular season.
This would mean Chubb would not be able to play in the first four games of the regular season and would not count against the 53-man roster until he is taken off the list.
Jerome Ford, Pierre Strong, D’Onta Foreman, Aidan Robbins, and Jacob Saylors are the running backs on the active roster for Cleveland. Nyheim Hines is on the non-football injury list and will also miss at least four games unless he is activated before the Tuesday cut to 53 players.
