Nico Muller has joined the Andretti Global Formula E team for the 2024-25 season, replacing Norman Nato and becoming a factory Porsche driver. Muller’s move was confirmed after weeks of speculation, following his announcement before the London season finale that he would be leaving Abt. This marks a significant change in his career as he transitions to a new team and takes on the role of a factory driver for Porsche.

Muller had spent two seasons with Abt, where he impressed with consistent performances, including six points finishes last season. He ended the season 48 points ahead of his teammate, Lucas di Grassi. Although Andretti’s Norman Nato secured a podium in his single season with the team, Muller outperformed him in the drivers’ standings, finishing five points ahead despite Nato having a more competitive car.

Jake Dennis, Muller’s new teammate at Andretti, won the drivers’ title in 2022/23, highlighting the team’s strong partnership with Porsche Motorsport in the Gen3 era. Muller expressed his excitement about joining the successful team and working with Dennis. His goals include securing podiums and achieving his first Formula E win, signaling his high ambitions for the upcoming season.

Muller’s move to Andretti also comes after he was linked with a potential drive for Porsche, having completed a private test with the team earlier in the season. This test occurred amid rumors that Antonio Felix da Costa might be dropped by Porsche after struggling in the early races. However, da Costa retained his seat after winning several races, leaving the door open for Muller to possibly replace him in the future.

Michael Andretti, CEO of Andretti, voiced strong confidence in Muller’s talent, emphasizing his extensive experience and accomplishments across multiple racing series.

The team holds high hopes for the upcoming season and is optimistic that Muller’s arrival will boost their quest for victories and championships. With his versatility and skill, Muller is seen as a key asset in enhancing Andretti’s competitive edge in Formula E.
