Nicolas Jarry celebrated his victory over Carlos Alcaraz in the Argentina Open semifinals, sharing a heartwarming moment with his wife Laura Urruti, who cheered him on from the stands at Court Guillermo Vilas.
Jarry fought hard for nearly two hours to end Alcaraz’s title defense at the ATP 250 event in Buenos Aires on Saturday, February 17.
With a total of seven aces and breaking the Spaniard’s serve twice, he clinched the intense battle 7-6(2), 6-3, securing a spot in the final. This marked Jarry’s first triumph over Alcaraz, having previously trailed 2-0 in their head-to-head encounters.
Reflecting on his victory, he expressed his joy at overcoming the World No. 2 on his third attempt, stating: “Third time lucky. Carlos is one of the best players, so it means a lot, especially after the battles I’ve had a couple of days ago.
It’s been very tough physically, so I’m very happy to be able to come back.” Following the match, Jarry shared an endearing moment with his wife Laura Urruti, sharing a celebratory kiss.
Jarry and Urruti tied the knot on December 23, 2020, and are proud parents to two children, Juan, born in April 2022, and Santiago, born in August 2023.
