Niece Motorsports has announced its driver lineup for the upcoming NASCAR Truck Series season, with Bayley Currey confirmed for the No. 41 machine and Matt Mills set to pilot the No. 42 entry.
Johnny Sauter, the 2016 NASCAR Truck Series champion, will take the wheel of the No. 45 truck for the season opener at Daytona. Sauter, boasting 320 starts in the Truck Series and 24 race wins, has previously run a partial schedule over the past two years but will be making his debut with Niece Motorsports.
Expressing his gratitude for the opportunity, Sauter stated, “I’m appreciative to everyone at Niece Motorsports for the chance to get back behind the wheel and start the season at Daytona. I’m ready to go racing, and I know [crew chief] Phil [Gould] and this Niece Motorsports team are ready to get back on track too. We’re ready to compete for a win in Daytona.”
Ross Chastain, a familiar face with Niece Motorsports, will participate in five races throughout the season.
Chastain, who has won four races with the organization and nearly clinched the 2019 Truck Series championship, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “I love coming to race in the Truck Series. I’m thankful to Al Niece and everyone at Niece Motorsports for allowing me to get behind the wheel of these Chevrolets.”
Chastain, now a full-time driver in the Cup Series, highlighted the significance of competing for an Owner’s Championship with Niece Motorsports, emphasizing his commitment to the team’s success.
Niece Motorsports General Manager Cody Efaw commended Chastain’s dedication to the organization, stating, “Ross means a lot to our organization, and we’re appreciative that he continues to come back and race with us.”
Furthermore, Niece Motorsports will feature young talents Kaden Honeycutt and Connor Mosack, who will share the truck with Sauter and Chastain for an unspecified number of races.
Honeycutt, with 20 Truck Series starts and four top-tens at just 20 years old, expressed his excitement for the opportunity, while Mosack, with limited Truck Series experience, conveyed his readiness to learn and contribute to Niece Motorsports’ success.
The team looks forward to kicking off the season with a competitive roster of drivers, aiming for victories and a strong performance throughout the campaign.
