These are unusual times for the No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs.
For the first time since 2020, they are trying to recover from a loss during the season.
The Bulldogs (3-1, 1-1 Southeastern Conference) will face the struggling Auburn Tigers (2-3, 0-2) in the Deep South’s oldest rivalry on Saturday. This matchup always has extra significance, especially after Georgia’s recent loss.
Alabama defeated the Bulldogs in a thrilling 41-34 game, ending their streak of 42 straight regular-season wins.
Georgia coach Kirby Smart emphasized that it’s business as usual for the team.
“We have a very set routine here, and we don’t change our routine based on outcomes,” he said. “I really believe in that process.”
Auburn is eager for a win and would love to disrupt Georgia’s hopes for a national championship. This is especially true since Georgia has won seven straight games against Auburn, marking their longest streak since winning nine in a row from 1923 to 1931.
“This rivalry means a lot to a lot of people,” Auburn tight end Luke Deal said. “For us to have not beaten them since I’ve been here, it’s definitely something I want to get accomplished.”
