Former Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov has criticized Marcus Rashford for missing training following a night out in Belfast last Friday. Berbatov condemned Rashford’s behavior, emphasizing that there is no justification for the player’s actions.
Berbatov expressed his disappointment, stating, “There is no excuse for it.” He elaborated, “I’d like to find an excuse because I’ll always try to defend the players because I’ve been there. I know how it is, what it sometimes takes from you. You want to relax – and you can do it – but only if you don’t skip training the next day.”
The former Manchester United striker suggested that Rashford’s absence from training was not due to illness but rather a lack of confidence and fitness, which reflects poorly on him professionally. Berbatov emphasized the importance of prioritizing football and attending training sessions without fail.
“First and foremost, you’re a footballer and this is your number one priority, no matter what, you need to be at training when you’re not sick, or you don’t have family problems,” Berbatov stated. He criticized Rashford’s behavior, stating, “If you go partying and then the next day you don’t go to training, then I don’t see how I can defend this behavior.”
Despite the incident, Rashford’s position at Manchester United appears secure for now, and he is expected to feature in the upcoming Premier League match against Wolves. However, Rashford’s form this season has been below par, raising questions about his future at the club.
Reports suggest that Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is monitoring Rashford as a potential replacement for Kylian Mbappe, whose contract expires at the end of the season.
