Novak Djokovic announced his withdrawal from the upcoming Miami Open through a statement shared on the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter).
In his statement, the Serbian player explained, “At this stage of my career, I’m balancing my private and professional schedule.”
Expressing regret to the Miami fans, Djokovic added, “I’m sorry that I won’t experience some of the best and most passionate fans in the world.”
The Miami Open’s main draw is scheduled to commence on March 19, with the final slated for March 30.
Djokovic’s decision comes after his unexpected defeat in the Round of 32 at Indian Wells against Italy’s Luca Nardi. Following his semifinal loss at the Australian Open in January to Jannik Sinner, the World No. 1 aims to regain his form before the European clay-court season and the Paris Olympics.
