Mississippi running back Henry Parrish Jr. will not play in Saturday’s game against No. 2 Georgia due to an injury.
Parrish suffered what looked like a serious left leg injury during the Rebels’ victory over Arkansas. On Monday, the depth chart listed Ulysses Bentley IV, Matt Jones, and Domonique Thomas as possible starters for the game against Georgia.
“Yeah, he’s out. That’s all I’ve got,” head coach Lane Kiffin said on Sunday about Parrish. He didn’t provide any further details about the injury on Monday.
Parrish is currently ranked sixth in the Southeastern Conference for rushing, with 678 yards and 10 touchdowns.
“We’re going to need some guys to step up,” Kiffin said. “That’s a big loss for us. He’d done well for us this year both with the ball and in protection.”
Kiffin added that the running back group is facing a tough challenge.
Thomas, who transferred from Georgia State, ran 10 times for 41 yards while filling in for Parrish against Arkansas. He has totaled 131 yards and one touchdown this season.
Jones has 222 rushing yards and three touchdowns, while Bentley has gained 185 yards and one touchdown.
